Projet # 6261 Montreal Project is a photographic and video project I would like to carry in the city of Montreal. Designed as a participatory piece of work, the goal of the project is to propose a new artistic urban vision to create a link with locals and their memory of certain places.

This project is both a geographical and symbolic journey that reflects on migration movements of people of different origins living in Montreal. In the form of photographic portraits and filmed testimony, I will create a dialogue between my own Diasporic travel and migration. My number of adoption is# 6261, which is the theme of the project and the main reason for me to seek out and interact with local residents who live at this address in various part of Montreal. To this end, I will contact 100 inhabitants whose street address is # 6261, selected from 100 locations in Montreal. Using this number, I will travel to various parts of Montreal where I will have the privilege of discovering different social realities (ethnic and linguistic) and then share them with the public later in the form of an exhibition and a publication.

My work incorporates the particular reality of Montreal local street address system that differs from others realities such as those of Belgium and South Korea which are familiar to me. The Montreal address system is different in term of the numbering system and roofs of North American, e.g. flat roofs. By linking all the selected addresses, my itinerary will draw a flat roof form on the map. I will meet with people who agree to participate in the project and ask them questions about their personal story (stories), the meaning of “home,” symbolism of the house, neighborhood, community and immigration.

Ce projet est à la fois un voyage géographique et symbolique qui porte une réflexion sur les mouvements de migrations d’habitants de différentes origines installés à Montréal. Sous forme de portraits photographiques et de témoignages filmés, je créerai un dialogue entre mon propre voyage diasporique et leurs migrations. #6261, mon numéro d’adoption, sera le prétexte d’interagir avec les habitants et ainsi de donner un autre vision de la ville de Montréal. En effet, je contacterai 100 habitants du #6261 choisis parmi 100 adresses dans Montréal. Ce numéro me fera voyager dans différentes parties de Montréal où j’aurai le privilège de découvrir différentes réalités sociales (ethniques et linguistiques) et de les partager ultérieurement avec le public sous forme d’une exposition et d’une publication.

Mon œuvre intègre la réalité particulière du système local de Montréal qui se distingue d’autres réalités comme celles de la Belgique et de la Corée du sud qui me sontfamilières : le système d’adresse de Montréal, bien différent dans sanumérotation et les toits de maisons nord-américaine, c’est à dire un toit plat. En liant toutes les adresses choisies, mon itinéraire dessinera une formede toit plat sur la carte. Je rencontrerai les habitants qui auront accepté departiciper au projet et leur poserai des questions sur leur histoire personnelle, le sens du « chez soi », la symbolique de la maison, du quartier, de l’appartenance et de l’immigration.
